Lady Gaga's Sends Mixed Signals to Fans 2010/8/9 11:36:19

Lady Gaga recently divulged to Vanity Fair that she is an occasional cocaine user, admitting she does the drug maybe a few times a year. Earlier this year, Gaga admitted that she did "bags and bags" of cocaine when she was an up and coming star. She also said she doesn't want her fans to emulate her bad behavior.
Uhhh too little too late Gaga.
Let's take a moment to think about what she has said. She did a lot of cocaine and it helped to make her famous. She seems to making a pretty strong correlation despite her afterthought asking fans not to be like her.
"She likes to shock, but this is an area that isn't about shock, its about personal responsibility. As much as I love her, it was a huge mistake to admit to coke use."
"Gaga is self righteous about sex and celibacy, that crazy church coming after her gays and her little monsters. She tries to be so pure on those levels as a role model for them which is why admitting cocaine use is actually totally irresponsible of her. She knows how much influence she has over her fans," says 'Cult of Celebrity' author Cooper Lawrence.
Some might argue that back in the seventies and eighties, it was cool for a rocker to admit they smoked pot because it gave them a bad boy, bad girl edginess and that cocaine use is just taking that trope to the next level. Maybe so, but when the majority of your fans are tweens, it's best not to admit to any drug use and if you think saying you're a casual drug user these days makes you seem edgy, you're wrong. It just makes you seem desperate for attention.
"Lady CaCa has no class, and needs to learn to stop trying so hard to look cool... she will never be Madonna. She reminds me more of Tila Tequila."
"Lady Caca is always trying to do whatever it takes to be controversial... but, it is all so unnatural and contrived . CaCa's latest claim that she is a casual coke user is horrible! Considering that the majority of her fans are tweens... it's just wrong. It is not the message to send to our youth," says Jay Grdina, CEO of Kikster.com, who is now so sick of Gaga's antics he has given her an affectionate nickname.
Chatting about casual cocaine use equals a value-loss for Gaga. Not only does it send her young fans mixed signals about what it right and what is wrong and what will help you be successful in the music business, but it makes her seem desperate for controversy. Put that up your nose and snort it Gaga
