The series focuses two brothers in search of missing father, a man who trained them as warriors against the supernatural evil,and primarily on two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as they travel across the country hunting the supernatural. Padalecki was interested in the role because of his taste for horror series like The X-Files and Twilight Zone, he found similar to Supernatural. He was also excited to play the "reluctant hero" if you compare Sam to The Matrix Neo and Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. Similarly, Padalecki had previous experience with executive producers McG, David Nutter, the former convinced to audition for the role. Ackles was originally asked by Nutter to audition for the role of Sam, but rather the character of Dean, after reading the manuscript. At the time of his hearing, he was already a regular series of other WB series Smallville. After landing the part of Dean, its role in Smallville shortened. |
