Boardwalk Empire DVD Plot

Boardwalk Empire is a historical drama with an emphasis on Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (based on the history of Enoch L. Johnson), a political figure who rose to prominence and controlled Atlantic City, New Jersey in the period of prohibition 1920 and 1930 "the markets. Nucky interacts with several historical figures in both political and personal life, including mobsters, politicians, government officials and ordinary people who turn to him. The federal government also takes an interest in smuggling and other illegal activities in the region, sending agents to investigate the MOB connections possible, but watching live Nucky - expensive and extravagant for a county political figure.

Boardwalk Empire is a great show, the 21st century version of a 19th century novel. It's Dickens, Dostoevsky, Tolstoi. The relationship between Nucky and Margaret is like nothing else on TV. Buscemi was absolutely terrific in the finale. The exploration of criminal culture, and its relationship to political culture, is pretty fascinating. I cannot wait for next season!
