American Idol Top 6 Results: Killer Queen 2012/4/27 22:26:49

If I had to come up with a word with what I was feeling going into tonight'sAmerican  Idolresults show, I think it would be resignation. Somehow I knew that I wasn't going to  like the results, even though I promised myself no result would surprise me. I didn't like  the outcome, and I wasn't surprised. On with the show.

The night started out with the usual dramatic opening, and then a performance by The Queen  Extravaganza, singing "Somebody to Love." It was. The whole entire time they were  performing I kept thinking of how well the Dartmouth Aires had performed it on The Sing- Off and how much I missed the judges on that show.
The Ford video was it's usual bit of fluff, and there was an interesting bit with TMZ. I'm not sure why the contestants were at TMZ, because I think they would learn a lot more from a room full of reporters and/or radio interviews than by visiting TMZ. But the top 6 were good sports and it seemed fun.

Up first were Jessica and Elise. Thankfully Jimmy agreed that Jessica's first song was a terrible choice. I don't know why he didn't like Elise's first song, but I get where he is coming from on the second. Elise returns to the bottom three.

Then Ryan interviews Casey Abrams about the American Idol tour. I've only made it to one (season 8), and it was a good concert. But I also liked the majority of people that season. I don't know about this season. Anyway, this served as a weird introduction to Stefano Langone's new single "I'm on a Roll." I always thought Stefano would go more of an usher/Ne-Yo route than this song is. It's sort of catchy, and I can see it doing well, but the performance wasn't my thing.

Up next were Hollie and Joshua. Jimmy said Hollie's comeback was too little too late, and that Joshua's song were both great. I think Joshua was a little shouty in the first song, but I completely agree on the second. Hollie is in the bottom three. She and Elise should release an book called 'Conversations from the Silver Stools" they've been there so often.

Katy Perry returns to sing "Part of Me." I like her songs, I just wish she was a songwriter rather than a performer. She has a good voice, but often it strains to sing the range she seems to write for. This was a good performance, I guess. I'm just not a fan.

Finally Phillip and Skylar are up, and Jimmy points out both of their weaknesses. I understand Phillip has been ill, but at the same time, I just don't get him anymore. So of course he is safe and Skylar rounds out the bottom three. She is immediately sent back to safety.

After the break, Elise is sent home, and she looks unsurprised. She sings out to "Whole Lotta Love" and I mourn her potential. She was always inconsistent in song choice, but she sang the heck out of everything. I hope she ends up with some sort of record deal, because her studio recordings are gorgeous. Good luck to Elise.
